Description

This Essay explores the Urban future, and beyond, if we don’t adapt to nature’s limits, and continue party in cities with supposed unlimited energy and materials.
Originally written as the 4th and last part of the (Dutch) book “Post Fossiel Leven” ( Post Fossil Living- possibly in English end of the year).
That books explores how we, without fossil fuels, should and could live , to survive and keep nature and the human species in it in a sustainable balance.
But what if we fail? Is what this essay explores. Or if it’s impossible to adapt, for some reason? Then how will future look like in a urbanizing environment ? Isn’t it just evolution, of the system as a whole? In which probably (growth of ) data and information is the common thread, and cities become the new organisms? leaving a legacy, after collapse, of a urban geological landscape:  the Urbanocene….
Regarding this essay, it’s somewhat speculative, indeed, nobody can predict the future, but acts as a contribution to new thinking and discussion.
